Safe, responsible shipping is the foundation of trust on ReptileX. Here is what buyers and sellers need to know.
Live arrival guarantee
Every live animal shipment on ReptileX is covered by our live arrival guarantee. If an animal arrives deceased or critically ill, the buyer is entitled to a full refund or replacement, provided they report the issue within 2 hours of delivery with clear photo evidence.
Shipping requirements
- Overnight or priority shipping is mandatory for live animals
- Insulated packaging with phase-appropriate heat or cool packs
- Clear labeling: "Live Animals — Handle With Care"
- Tracking number provided to the buyer within 24 hours of shipment
- Weather holds when temperatures at origin or destination exceed safe ranges
Weather holds
Sellers must delay shipment when temperatures are below 35°F (2°C) or above 90°F (32°C) at either the origin or destination. Communication with the buyer is required when a weather hold is in effect.
Packaging standards
Use breathable containers with adequate padding. Heat packs must be wrapped to prevent direct contact with the animal. Include a small water dish or moistened paper towel for hydration during transit.
What to do on arrival
Buyers should unpack animals immediately in a warm, quiet environment. Allow reptiles to acclimate before handling or feeding. If there are any concerns about health or condition, document with photos and contact the seller right away.
